Who holds your mail?

Every mail company answers one question, whether they say it out loud or not: how long do they keep your mail, and who can read it while they do.

Traditional providers answer forever, and us. Liir lets you turn that dial: all the way down to never.

How traditional mail works

Someone writes to you
Their provider hands the letter to yours.
It lands in their datacenter, and stays
Your mail's permanent home is a building you will never enter, under rules you didn't write. It is indexed, profiled, retained on their schedule, and answerable to whoever can compel them.
Your devices get a window
Phone, laptop, browser: each one visits the mail. None of them holds it.
The account is the leash
Lose the account (locked out, banned, or a policy change) and twenty years of correspondence goes with it. You never had a copy. You had permission.

How Liir mail works

Someone writes to you
Their provider hands the letter to Liir's sorting office. Same as any mail server, so far.
Sealed on arrival · to YOUR key
The moment it lands, the letter is encrypted to the public key you published when you claimed your name. From this second on, we are holding a package we cannot open.
Your system collects it
Your devices fetch the sealed letter and open it with keys only you hold.
We delete our copy
The sorting office keeps nothing. Custody has fully transferred: the letter now exists only where you are.
Your mail lives in YOUR database
Mirrored across your devices, backed up as a sealed brick only your key opens, configured however you like. Nobody can take it, scan it, or lose it for you.
